But when you travel, being away from the office doesnt mean you can ignore your email (as much as youd like to). So after a brutal day of back-to-back meetings, the absolute worst thing is trying to untangle a technical issue especially if it means fooling with your email settings.

Unable to check email? You may need to find a new SMTP Server
If you have a problem and cant retrieve email on your personal laptop or smart phone, stand by for good news. The solution may lie in merely changing your SMTP server settings. So what is SMTP? It is a routine that email applications use to correctly route your email over the WWW. Email goes to an SMTP server before getting sent to the correct person. However if the SMTP server was configured to a local Internet Service Provider, it cant function if youre away from home!

Be sure to select a global SMTP Server
In order for your email to function around the globe, you must select a global SMTP server. Global SMTP servers allow you to read and send your business email from a cell phone or PC from any global location. Once you make the change, you wont have to reset your email settings again.

Instructions for finding and changing an SMTP SMTP Server in Outlook
See instructions for Outlook 2007:

1) In the Tools menu in Outlook, go to ‘Account Settings’.
2) Identify your email account, click Change
3) Change the Outgoing email server (SMTP) to a global SMTP server (recommended links are below). Dont touch the Incoming mail server setting. Click ‘More Settings’.
4) Click ‘Outgoing Server’ tab. Uncheck ‘My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication’. Click the ‘Advanced’ tab.
5) Change your Outgoing server (SMTP) Port Number to 2525. Alternate ports are 25, 8025 or 587. For ‘Use the following type of encrypted connection’ select None.

Congrats! Now you can check your email from any location around the world. This will save time and headaches next time you travel.

NTP Server Operation

A NTP server can operate in three modes: unicast; anycast and multicast. In unicast and anycast modes, the client transmits a NTP request message to the server. The server responds with a NTP time message that the client uses for time synchronisation. In multicast mode, NTP time messages are broadcast at periodic specified intervals.

NTP Reference Clocks

Primary NTP servers can synchronise with a number of external reference time sources. The GPS (Global Positioning System) is often used to provide an accurate timing reference. There is also a number of national time and frequency radio broadcasts available. The WWVB radio time broadcast is transmitted from Colorado and covers most of the US. The DCF-77 radio time signal is broadcast from Frankfurt, Germany, and covers much of central and Western Europe. The MSF radio time signal is broadcast from Rugby, UK, and covers the British Isles and much of Western Europe. Other local time and frequency radio broadcasts include: TDF, France, and CHU, Canada.

NTP Versions

The current release of NTP is version 4. The only significant modification to the protocol between versions 3 and 4 is a slight header re-interpretation to accommodate IPv6.

SNTP Simple Network Time Protocol

SNTP is a simplification of the Network Time Protocol, where the complexities of the full-blown protocol are not required. SNTP can be implemented when the high synchronisation performance of NTP is not required. The message format of the SNTP protocol is almost identical to that of the NTP protocol. However, the complex subroutines designed to maintain a highly accurate synchronised time are removed or simplified. Small computers with reduced processing power, such as micro-controllers or monitoring equipment most often use SNTP. The SNTP and NTP protocols are fully interchangeable, a SNTP client can synchronise to a NTP server without any issues.

My Keepon Dancing Robot is extremely cute yet quite simple. Physically it is like two tennis balls, one on top of the other. This yellow type snowman has round black eyes and a black nose and is placed on a platform. There is an ultra sensitive microphone inside the nose of the My Keepon which easily picks up music or any tunes whether hummed or whistled. It even detects clapping and patting. This little robot spontaneously dances when music is played as the beats are detected by the microphone.

My Keepon Dancing robot has two modes of operation; the dance mode and the touch mode. The modes can be selected by two buttons at the bottom of the platform. In the dance mode, this toy robot can detect music and move along with the rhythm. An interesting fact about the My Keepon is that it does not repeat its moves when the same song or music is played twice. The amazing moves it makes are simply awesome.

This toy robot is designed in such a way that it longs for your attention and will respond to your touch. There are sensors hidden under the soft textured skin and when you touch it, it moves and makes expressive sounds. There are four touch spots on its body; one each in front, back and on left and right side. When you poke it in the back, it turns to face you. You can pat it, tickle it and you can even make it sneeze by scratching its nose. It displays a variety of emotions and moods such as happy, sleepy, annoyed, excited, and curious and a lot more. My Keepon Dancing Robot requires eight AA batteries to work but it also comes with an AC adapter socket but you will have to purchase the AC adapter separately.

Although it was meant for kids aged 6 years and above, because of its responses My Keepon Dancing has become a favorite toy of people of all ages as not only children but even adults love it.

Domestic robots could easily become part of our future landscape. As technology improves and people are more pressed for time, it’s really no surprise. In a January 2012 Persuadable Research survey, 67% indicated they would feel safe and secure with robots doing various tasks in their homes and furthermore, 70% would personalize their robots by naming them. Placing a name upon a robot gives one the sense that robots could become part of the family, in a way, perhaps similar to pets, but with an entirely different function.

Among those who would be willing to buy a robot, nearly half, 43% prefer that their robot be able to take initiative and suggest actions. It seems that people foresee robots as domestic helpers, but also as personal assistants. Imagine, if you will, a robot that takes commands by simply talking to it. It would learn from past tasks and even offer ideas or better ways to do things. If robots had emotions, 37% of respondents think they might even be able to make friends with them.

What would the perfect robot look and sound like? Panelists felt that the robot should not sound too young or too old and the voice should not be too masculine or too feminine, but it should definitely be more humanlike rather than synthesized. It should also look more human than machine and be more roundish than square. Additionally people seemed to prefer a more colorful robot as well as one that could have a more personal design. Lastly, a sense of humor wouldn’t hurt!

It appears that many perceive robots as a possibility and a natural extension of existing smart technology. It is easy to admit that, from the survey results, one could imagine a cadre of robots in fun Apple colors, much like iPods – except much bigger and definitely more expensive. So, what would you name your robot?
